Students Follow the River: Truckee River Restoration and Documentation Project
The project will engage ten students at Rainshadow Community Charter High School in 72 hours of community service and artistic exploration of the Truckee River between January and June of 2006. Under supervision, the students will spend four hours each week as part of the Rainshadow River Team. They will walk the river in segments from the Nevada state line to Vista Boulevard, engaging in cleanup as well as study of the river’s history, ecology, geography, economy, and recreational uses, presenting their findings in multiple forms of art and writing. Litter will be removed fromt he river area as we canvas the entire stretch of the waterway a few hundred yards at a time.
