Rancho San Raphael Wetland and Water Quality Enhancement
Funding for this project provides for invasive Russian Olive removal in the Rancho San Raphael wetlands north of McCarran Boulevard. The Russian Olives will be replaced with native Yellow Willow Plants. The project also involves the planting of yellow willow in the recently constructed wetlands in the area south of McCarran Boulevard. The wetlands area is part of Evans Creek which runs through the Park and eventually terminates at the Truckee River.
TMWA Benefit:
Enhancements to the Evans Creek watershed will improve the capability of removing nutrients and sediment, thus improving the water quality of this tributary before it enters the Truckee River.
