Invasive Aquatic Species Integrated Management Study
This goal of this project is to reduce the risk of invasive species, specifically zebra and quagga mussels, from getting a foothold in Lake Tahoe. Currently Lake Tahoe and other lakes of the Region are believed to be free of these invasive species. However, if introduced, these invertebrates could spread quickly through the Truckee River System and would pose a threat of clogging TMWA’s water plant intakes. This grant specifically supports the implementation of boat inspections at two launching facilities on the lake.
Directly benefits water quality and the watershed of the Truckee River, thereby maintaining water quality to the intakes of TMWA’s water treatment facilities.
