Downtown Eco-Channel Construction
This project involves the design and construction of an eco-low flow meandering channel in the Truckee River from Sierra Street to Lake Street. When completed the project will provide the following benefits:
• Reduced water loss from evaporation and increasing depth of flow
• Reduced thermal gain in the river by increasing depth of flow
• Reduced algae growth by increasing depth of flow and flow velocity
• Increased nutrient processing
• Improve aquatic habitat by increasing hydraulic variability
• Increase and maintain flood stage capacity
TMWA Benefit:
When completed, the project will provide direct benefits to influent water quality at the Glendale Treatment Plant through reduced organic and algae loading to the plant.
