Chalk Creek Watershed TDS/Sulfate Reducing Wetland Pilot Project
This project entails the funding of a small scale pilot project for the bio-treatment of TDS, phosphorus, nitrogen, and selenium in the Chalk Creek Watershed. Previous studies funded by the TRF indicate that the bulk of the TDS in the watershed is sulfate. This project provides opportunity to evaluate efficiency and treatment for removal of TDS, phosphorus, nitrogen, and selenium using bio-wetland treatment techniques with possible watershed-wide implementation.
TMWA Benefit:
If successful, TMWA serves to benefit with improved water quality at plant intakes. The cities of Reno and Sparks may also benefit with reduced TDS loading to its wastewater plant.
