Alum Creek Water Quality Improvement Project
Sampling and testing of water quality along Alum Creek. Alum Creek is a tributary to the Truckee River that flows through the Caughlin Ranch area in Southwest Reno. Alum Creek has been listed by the EPA and NDEP as impaired due to higher levels of suspended solids, total dissolved solids, orthophosophorus, total phosphorus and iron. The first phase identifies the source of these constituents, the results of which could lead to remediation projects to improve overall water quality of Alum Creek. Sampling and testing conducted by a water quality contractor in cooperation with the Caughlin Ranch Homeowners association and Nevada Land Trust.
TMWA Benefit:
This project could improve Truckee River water quality upstream of TMWA’s Glendale Water Treatment and phosphorus levels in the Truckee River.
