Rosewood Nature Study Area: Unique and Interactive Interpretive Signage Fabrication
The Parks Foundation’s restoration project at Rosewood Nature Study Area aims to create a long-term learning laboratory focused on wetland habitats. They are developing the Rosewood Interpretive Signage Plan, which includes five interactive signs with features like flip plates and puzzles to engage visitors. Topics include pollinators, wetland habitats, and beaver engineering, with content developed by experts and the Washoe Tribe Elders.
AmeriCorps Wetland Restoration Technicians and the Wetland Restoration Manager will install the signs along a 1.6-mile loop through wetland and riparian habitats. The Rosewood Nature Study Area will be accessible year-round, and Parks Foundation youth programs will use the signs for hands-on learning.
TMWA Benefit:
The Interpretive Sign Fabrication Project at the Rosewood Nature Study Area advances the Stewardship and Environmental Awareness priority of the Truckee River Fund grant. The educational signage and accompanying programs designed to promote awareness and stewardship practices of the Truckee River Watershed will inspire the community to act with an educated focus on water conservation ethics.
