Phase 2 Coldstream Canyon Floodplain Restoration
Streambed/floodplain restoration for the lower reaches of Cold Creek Canyon including expansion of the flood plain, reestablishment of riparian vegetation and post-project water quality monitoring. Cold Creek is currently a major contributor of sediment to the Truckee River and is listed by the EPA as needing rehabilitation. This work follows pre-project water quality monitoring supported by TMWA and the TRF.
TMWA Benefit:
Completion of this project should significantly reduce sediment loading on the Truckee River from Cold Creek, a tributary to the Truckee River, thus providing a direct benefit to water quality upstream of TMWA’s water treatment intakes.
