Independence Lake Woody Fuels Reduction for Fire Resilience-Year 3
This project continues earlier efforts and involves forest thinning of approximately 80 acres of forest land within the Independence Lake Watershed. The TRF funded programs in 2009 and 2010 which have been successful in reducing the risk of wildfire in this important watershed.
TMWA Benefit:
This program reduces the risk of heavy sediment flow into Independence Lake which would occur in the event of catastrophic fire. Independence Lake is relied upon by TMWA for water supply during drought as it owns all storage rights.
