McKinley Arts and Cultural Center/ LID Demonstration Project
This project will be a demonstration project for application of rain garden systems and pervious concrete application for infiltration of precipitation. Project components include rain gutters, rain gardens for the infiltration of roof run-off, and structural controls for treating roof run-off. The project will provide the community an example of how these techniques can be used to minimize run-off and contamination from flowing to the river during moderate to extreme rainfall events.
TMWA Benefit:
If employed on large scale, these techniques would serve to reduce contaminant loading to the Truckee River during moderate to heavy rainfall events, thereby improving raw water quality to TMWA’s water plants and reducing treatment expenditures.
